The Freedoms Foundation was established after World War II by three prominent business leaders- Ken Wells, Don Belding and E.F. Hutton- to honor patriotism and good citizenship. Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower served as Chairman from the Foundation’s founding in 1949 until his death in 1969. The Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization, is supported primarily from voluntary contributions from individuals, corporations, service organizations, philanthropic foundations and its volunteer chapters.
